Retired baseball coach Kevin Garrett made his mark at Concord and in the Mountain East Conference with 500 wins over his 22-year career, making Garrett the winningest active coach in the MEC and just one of six coaches in the Atlantic Region with 500 or more wins.
Garrett began his coaching career in 1996. He stepped away from coaching after the 2010 season to serve as Concord’s athletic director. In 2015, he returned to coaching and continued acting as AD.
To honor Coach Garrett’s service to Concord’s baseball program and athletics, Dr. Brad Lane ’02 established a scholarship in his former coach’s honor.
This award is for baseball players who show both athletic and academic promise. The funds help defray the student’s normal and necessary fees and expenses related to tuition.

This award has been given to two players since the fund’s endowment: Zachary Saryeldin and Anthony Stehlin. Stehlin, a business administration major, received the award twice.
The amount given hinges on the growth of the fund.
