As the spring semester nears its end, Concord University students look to decompress from upcoming finals with spring fling events this week. Since the mask mandate shifted to optional last month, these events are returning to normal for the first time in nearly two years. Here is a daily overview of the events over the next several days.
Monday, April 18th
The first day of activities kicks off with free 2022 Concord Spring Fling t-shirts at the bottom floor of the Jerry & Jean Beasley Student Center in the SGA office. They will be available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. until Wednesday,
April 20.
While you’re there, be sure to cast your vote for the open positions on the SGA executive board next year. Also, the Greeks will begin sign-ups around 11 a.m. by the bookstore tables for their free corn hole tournament on Friday. Be sure to sign up by Thursday, April 21, to reserve your spot.
Later that day, student-favorite event “Blacklight Bingo” will be held in the Ballroom from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the top floor of the Student Center. As always, there will be tons of awesome prizes given out to the winners, so get there early and make sure you get yourself a seat. You don’t want to miss out on this event.

Tuesday, April 19th
In the early part of your day, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., there will be sand art available—in a shaped container of your choice—by the Welcome Center on the second floor of Student Center Art. Sand art may not sound like the most appealing activity, but you would be surprised at how relaxing and oddly satisfying it is.
That night, there will be a Talent Show held from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Subway stage on the bottom floor of the Student Center. Be sure to stop by and share your talent(s) with other Concord students!

Wednesday, April 20th
Another popular Concord student activity that makes its return is “Creature a Creature.” This time it will be called “The Zoo Factory,” where you can create your own stuffed zoo animal. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Welcome Center of the second floor in the Student Center.
In the afternoon from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., you can have a “Picnic in the Valley” (presented by Aramark). As you eat, you will have the courtesy of watching the Greeks face off against Concord faculty/staff in an outdoor volleyball game at 5 p.m.
To cap off the night, comedian Aaron Kominos-Smith will be performing live at the Subway stage on the bottom floor of the Student Center.

Thursday, April 21st
In the morning, Concord students can get a head start on their Earth Day celebrations by picking up a succulent plant in the Welcome Center on the second floor of the Student Center from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
For the night events, the first is “Concord Chaos Wrestling” from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Gym 11 of the Carter Center. This event features live pro wrestling by Premier Wrestling League-Mid Atlantic. Click here to learn more about the upcoming wrestlers.
The other event will be a toga party—hosted by Concord’s Greeks—in Pais Fellowship Hall on the bottom floor at University Point from 9:30 p.m. to 10:45 p.m. Admission will be $5.00, and all participants will be required to wear a toga (none will be provided).

Friday, April 22nd
The last day of events begins with tie dyeing your spring fling shirt from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the Valley. Instructions and supplies will be provided.
At 5 p.m. in the afternoon, the Greeks will be hosting a free corn hole tournament in the Valley. Make sure have yourself a good partner because prizes will be given to the top three teams.
Spring fling week will be action-packed, so go out and have yourself some fun!
