ATHENS, W.Va. – Concord University’s office of Career Development is hosting its annual jobs events in conjunction with the University’s Center for Academic and Career Development (CACD). These events will be held in a completely virtual format this year.
Phil Lewis, Director of Career Services for Concord, says this year’s events were designed with flexibility and convenience in mind.
“With the added meetings people are attending now, we listened to comments from employers and our own students while developing the virtual concept. Most employers have multiple meetings daily and students always have classes to juggle so the virtual model meets those needs.”Phil Lewis
The annual Career Fair will be held on April 12th-13th from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will feature the opportunity for employers to schedule specific times they’re available. Students will be able to search the list of registered employers beforehand and choose their preferences for submitting resumes.
Concord is also hosting the popular Teacher Recruitment Event separately on April 15th-16th from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for regional school systems to talk with Education majors.
“The Teacher Recruitment Event is one of the most popular activities Concord hosts each year. Education Majors make up a significant portion of the student population and we’re always excited to speak with our education partners in the area,”Phil Lewis
He reminds those interested that the Teacher Recruitment Event will also follow the virtual format.
Students will receive notices in their Concord email about registering for the events. Education majors will receive a separate notice about the Teacher Recruitment Event. Students are encouraged to dress professionally during their meetings.
Lewis suggests that employers and students should register with CU’s careers platform by contacting the Career Services office at: (304) 384-6292. Questions or requests for the link to registration can be sent via email to email@example.com
Persons with disabilities should contact Nancy Ellison, 1-304-384-6086 or 1-800-344-6679 extension 6086, if special assistance is required for access to an event scheduled by the University on campus.
