ATHENS, W.Va. – Concord University is launching a new opportunity for students this month. The first installment of the Alumni Speaker Series will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 25th at noon and will feature a Zoom meeting with 1986 Concord graduate Brian Manning.
Manning is the Regional Library Director for the Appomattox Regional Library System in Hopewell, Va. In his presentation titled “The Value of Variety” he will discuss how a liberal arts education prepares an individual for a career change, whether by choice or by need.
Concord’s Alumni and Career Services offices are partnering to offer these presentations which will take place at noon on the fourth Tuesday of every month.
“Our Alumni Speaker Series will feature a prominent alum who will speak on a topic of interest. These topics will range from ‘soft skills’ like resume building and interview techniques to the personal story of how that alum turned their education into a career,”
Phil Lewis, Career Services Director
“We are so excited to be officially launching our Alumni Speaker Series as we begin the Fall 2020 semester! This series gives alums the opportunity to connect with Concord from wherever they are and to share some valuable insight on their CU experience with our current students.”
Sarah Turner, Director of Alumni and Donor Relations
