CU Celebrating 148TH Anniversary With Roaring 20s Style President’s Ball

You don’t need a speakeasy password to gain access to Concord University’s President’s Ball, but you may want to wear a flapper dress or fedora for the red carpet. In celebration of the university’s 148th anniversary, Concord family and friends are cordially invited to dance and dine in a roaring 20s inspired setting on Saturday, February 29 at 6:00 pm.

Guests will feel like a Fitzgerald or Hemingway when they enter the ballroom on the top floor of the Jerry and Jean Beasley Student Center. Advancement officials have worked for the past year to fine tune every detail, from the black and gold color scheme of elegant décor to the themed cocktails and a photo booth that features props to match the era.

The night will begin with a formal plated dinner. President Kendra Boggess will then present her Presidential Excellence Awards for faculty, staff, and students. After the formality is over, stay to dance the evening away with Downtown Collective, a live band with a set list sure to make you move your feet. Even if you think “The Charleston” is a dance move, or that city past “The Beckley,” there will be popular dance songs for every generation.

Letting your formal wear reflect the 1920s theme is not a requirement, but it would be the “bee’s knees” if it did!

Tickets can be purchased online at: http://www.concord.edu/presball . There are options for dinner and dancing, or dancing only. Even if you cannot attend but would still like to support the event, you can choose the ‘Send a Student’ ticket option.

There are also three levels of sponsorship available for the President’s Ball. If you would like to make a contribution in the name of your business, please contact Blake Farmer, Manager of University Advancement, at 304-384-6056 for more information.

All proceeds benefit the Concord University Annual Fund, which supports campus projects and scholarships.
