Concord University Student Advances to Semifinals of Statewide Collegiate Business Plan Competition

ATHENS, W.Va. – Eighteen state colleges and universities will be represented in the 2019-2020 West Virginia Statewide Collegiate Business Plan Competition (WVSCBPC) semifinals, with a total of 31 teams moving onto the next stage of the competition. The semifinals will be held Jan. 31, 2020 at Fairmont State University.

Colt Walls will represent Concord University with his idea, Mobile Clean. Colt is a junior from Princeton, W.Va.  He is majoring in finance and minoring in entrepreneurship.

“He is so passionate about his idea, and has been from the start. Many times a student will change ideas a few times before deciding on the ‘one’. He had this from the first day of class, and never swayed. I love the idea, and can’t wait to see his dream become a reality,”

Dr. Angela Addair, Director of Entrepreneurial Studies

A $10,000 grand prize awaits the winner in both the STEM & Innovation and Lifestyle & Hospitality categories. An additional at-large award of $20,000 is made possible by Ray Zinn, the longest-serving CEO in Silicon Valley. This is the third year that Zinn has given money to the business plan competition. He gave $10,000 to the event each year over the last two years.

Dr. Addair is the campus liaison for the WVSCBPC.  The competition gives students the opportunity to start a business while having the support of business professionals, along with additional resources, to boost their chances of being successful.
