ATHENS, W.Va. – Concord College will present Lauren Pelon Tuesday, November 7th at 8:00 p.m. in the Main Auditorium of the Alexander Fine Arts Center.
Lauren Pelon traces the story of music and instruments throughout history with her exciting mix of ancient and modern instruments, many of them never seen outside museums. They will be on display and used during Pelon’s unique concert. This program features lute, shawm, hurdy-gurdy, Kiowa courting flute and other antique instruments, as well as vocals, and modern synthesizers and wind controllers. The music will come from the 1st to the 20th centuries. She will also tell stories about the development of wind, string, and free-reed instruments from around the world.
“Ms. Pelon built a bridge from an historical and cultural past through the present and into a new dimension. She produces music in many modes and styles, and from an impressive range of cultures and periods,”
Dr. James L. Livingston, Northern Michigan University
Pelon has performed with Garrison Keillor, and in concerts throughout the United States, Australia, New Zealand, England, Ireland, China, Russia and Kazakhstan.
