Citizens Communications Supports Concord Scholarship Program

ATHENS, W.Va. – Citizens Communications Director of Operations Rick Umberger contributed $5,000 to Concord College to support students who choose either business or technology as their field of study. Vice President for Development J. Douglas Machesney accepted the contribution on behalf of the College.

“This is the first year we have made a contribution to Concord College. We want to be a good citizen in our community. We can help by supporting students who attend Concord because they are our future. Citizens Communications serves 42 of the 55 counties in West Virginia. Our corporate strategy focuses on serving rural areas like southern West Virginia. We are introducing “ADSL” in this area which is a leading-edge technology for telephone service. Customers will be able to use one telephone line for both their voice calls and their Internet service. We want to support the continued improvement of technology in this area, and an investment in future leaders is just one way we can maintain quality service to our customers. We also hope to provide career opportunities for graduates in these fields of study.”
