Governor to Speak at Expo in September


PRINCETON, W.Va. – West Virginia Governor Cecil H. Underwood will speak at the opening ceremonies of the 3rd annual Technology and Training Expo at Centennial Hall, Concord College. The Princeton-Mercer County Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with Concord College and the Mercer County Technical Education Center sponsor the event to focus on technology advances in southern West Virginia.

Technology is the key to the 21st century. By using our institutions and our resources, technology will continue as an engine of job creation. We must stay on the cutting edge of technology.”

The Tech Expo begins with a Business After Hours sponsored by ARAMARK and Princeton Community Hospital Thursday, September 28th, from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. The general public is invited to attend. Cost for the Business After Hours is $5.00. Governor Underwood will speak the next morning during opening ceremonies which will begin at 9:30 a.m. in front of Centennial Hall. The Tech Expo’s exhibition hall will admit attendees following opening ceremonies. Show hours are Friday, September 29th, after opening ceremonies through 6:00 p.m. and Saturday, from 10:00 a.m.—5:00 p.m. Cost for attendance is $2.00. On Friday, area professionals from the medical, legal, accounting and education fields will be able to attend courses to earn Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and high school students will be invited for academic activities.

Vendors signed up to date for the event include: Stargate, Citizens Communications, Seneca Communications, Brown Edwards, Princeton Community Hospital, Data General, Concord College, Bluefield State College, Southern Communications and Center Field Software.

The Mercer County Convention & Visitor’s Bureau (CVB) is assisting with promotions for the event. Bureau Executive Director Beverly Wellman noted that:

“Technology is moving so rapidly that if your business isn’t keeping up, you risk losing your customer base. Improved technology will open up new possibilities for all types of businesses.”
