Allen to Present at Geoscientists Meeting in Nevada

ATHENS, W.Va. – Research by Dr. Joseph L. Allen from Concord College will be presented at the 112th annual meeting of the Geological Society of America. The meeting will be held November 9th-18th, 2000, at the Reno/Sparks Convention Center, Reno, Nevada. Hosts are the University of Nevada—Reno, the Desert Research Institute, and the Geological Society of Nevada. Approximately 7,000 geoscientists are expected to attend.

“We have re-designed our introductory geology classes to include a research project. The research process teaches the student to think critically and in a scientific manner. Students take this course as part of their general studies, education or environmental geoscience discipline. So far, the research component of this course has received very favorable evaluations from our students.”
