Athens, W.Va. – Kathy Mattea, winner of two consecutive CMA Female Vocalist of the Year awards, will be performing at the Alexander Fine Arts Center at Concord College, Sunday, October 22nd, 2000. Award-winning West Virginia Public Radio’s Mountain Stage with Larry Groce will feature Mattea along with Molly O’Brien, Stacy Earle and Allison Moorer, and other performers. Showtime for the two-hour program is 8:00 p.m.
Mattea, with six number one singles to her credit, just released her 11th CD, The Innocent Years. “The Innocent Years will be one of 2000’s best pop-country CDs,” said Mark Price, Charlotte Observer. “The Innocent Years could hardly be more out of step with the rest of contemporary country music. Thank goodness,” stated Brian Mansfield, USA TODAY.
West Virginia Public Radio’s Mountain Stage with Larry Groce is a two-hour program heard over more than 100 public, college and commercial stations affiliated with Public Radio International.
“This is the third year Concord College has hosted Mountain Stage. We are pleased that public radio is bringing a native West Virginian who also happens to have a national prominence to our campus. Last year the event was sold out, so get your ticket early as the seating is limited.”
