Metz Receives Scholarship

ATHENS, W.Va. – Mary Bryan, One Valley Bank’s Student Loan Manager, presented Jaime Metz, a Concord College student, with the Bank’s Financial Aid Scholarship. The $1,000 scholarship is intended to continue annually, providing aid to deserving students who would otherwise be forced to borrow money to pay for college.

“As a lender, we know how deeply in debt students can get. That’s why we wanted to find students with high GPAs and excellent scholastic records and try to keep them out of debt,”

Mary Bryan

Originally from Parsons in Tucker County, Metz is currently a senior at Concord and majoring in elementary education. She is a member of several honor societies and president of Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority. She said she chose Concord because it has a reputation of being a “good education school.” She plans to teach after she leaves Concord, and hopes to be able to remain in southern West Virginia.

According to Concord’s Financial Aid Director, Patricia Harmon, Metz was selected based on scholarship criteria set forth by One Valley Bank.
