Concord College Fundraiser at The Greenbrier, Saturday, November 18th

ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord College Foundation, Inc. is hosting its second annual Fund for Concord College Dinner, Saturday, November 18th, 2000 at The Greenbrier Hotel in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va. A reception will be held at 6:00 p.m. in the Colonial Ballroom with dinner at 7:00 p.m.

Dr. Lloyd Elliott, President Emeritus of The George Washington University in Washington, D.C., will serve as the guest speaker and honorary chair of this event. He was also president of the National Geographic Educational Foundation, Washington, D.C., and president of the University of Maine, Orono, ME.

“We are honored to have Dr. Lloyd Elliott, a West Virginia native serve as this year’s guest speaker, as he is one of the pre-eminent leaders in higher education in America. Dr. Elliott’s ties with Concord College date back to 1966 when he served as commencement speaker and received a honorary doctoral degree from Concord College. Given his experience as the President of the University of Maine and his 28 years as the President of George Washington University, I am eager to hear his views on the future of higher education.”

Jerry Beasley, Concord College President

“Last year’s initial dinner was a resounding success. The committee and I hope this year’s event will be equally well supported. We need the community’s support to enable the Foundation to continue its outstanding scholarship program.”

Bart Harvey, Planning Committee Chair
